Appraisal services

Written appraisals are a legal document. An appraiser has to have formal education in appraisal theory, principals, ethics and law. An appraiser relies on actual facts – condition, proven provenance, historical records, and actual sales records.

Values can and due vary with respect to location of sale, type of sale, condition of item, and the time frame in which a sale has to be made. A garage sale (tag sale) time constraints are more limited - than an advertised auction - than an antique mall – than a retail gallery; therefore, the expatiation of lower value.

Written appraisals and related consulting services are offered on a confidential basis to our clients. We have the expertise to value your fine art and picture frames. We also have contacts for expert appraisers who handle other types of personnel property. All services are handled on an hourly rate basis, or fixed fee.

A written appraisal contains…. a cover letter; terms and conditions; including a statement by the appraiser that they have no financial interest in the property or that such interest be disclosed in the report; full description of item, values of comparable sales, appraised value based on clients function; methodology and resources relied upon including market analysis; date and location of inspection; appraiser’s qualifications and signature.
